Safe Sitter Class

Safe Sitter is a course designed for students in grades 6-8 to learn safety skills for staying at home by themselves and babysitting. 

In this six hour course, students will learn essential skills through listening, role-play activities, and games:

  1. Safety Skills - Students will learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with certain dangers and emergencies. 
  2. Child Care Skills - for various developmental stages they will be babysitting.  Students will practice diapering and learn behavior management skills. 
  3. First Aid and rescue skills - students will learn and practice CPR skills and choking skills. Students will learn basic first aid steps, including when to call for more help with a back up parent or 9-1-1. 
  4. Life & Business Skills - students will learn how to screen jobs, discuss fees and greet the employer in a respectful manner, then practice through various role-plays. 

Pre-registration is required, as spots are limited.  To register, contact Erin at 660-258-7251. The cost of the course is $35 and includes a safe sitter kit.
