The health department protects the public from disease through a multitude of environmental services. The environmental health specialist inspects establishments such as lodging, food, schools, daycares and nutrition centers. In addition, the health specialist investigates food-borne illness outbreaks, animal bites, environmental exposure hazards and valid sewage complaints.
