Emergency Preparedness

Emergencies can strike anytime. A tornado, a flood or even a terrorist attack can change lives. Missouri families, communities, businesses and schools need to take steps today to prepare for an emergency. Preparing today can save lives!

The health department works with the county emergency planning committee to ensure that we can meet the needs of our county citizens in the wake of a disaster. Our annual drive-thru flu clinic is an example of testing the strengths of our partnerships and infrastructure in the event of a mass-dispensing emergency.

Here are some resources to prepare yourself and your family for various emergencies.

Things to Consider in the Event of an Emergency:

  • Do you have a plan for your pets or livestock?
  • Have you made back-up plans if you utilize oxygen or dialysis in the home?
  • Are you a childcare provider? Do you have a plan for transport if you have to do an emergency evacuation?
  • Do you have a family plan on where to meet and what to do if all communication lines and cell towers are down?
