Are you one of the approximately 30 million Americans currently living with diabetes? Of those 30 million, 7.2 million are unaware they have the disease. When not managed properly diabetes can cause various health complications, some of which can be disabling. Diabetes is the number one cause of kidney failure, lower-limb amputations, and blindness in adults.
Research indicates individuals have better health outcomes and are less likely to develop complications when they receive formal diabetes education. However, only 57 percent of U.S. adults with diabetes report ever partaking in any formal education about their disease.
